Arbitrators' Fees

Arbitrators’ fees range from $250 to $800 per hour, plus applicable taxes depending on the arbitrator and the location of the arbitration. Many arbitrators have also set half and full-day rates. Please contact us to obtain rates, availability and conditions for a specific arbitrator.

If an arbitral panel includes one or more arbitrators who are not associated with ADR Chambers, then the parties must make their own fee arrangements with such arbitrators.

Deposit

A deposit is required for each day reserved for the arbitration, the estimated time for preparation, preliminary matters, and Award writing, venue expenses, and taxes. The deposit will be applied against the final bill for fees and disbursements. (Rule 16)

Adjournment, Cancellation, or Settlement

If the arbitration is cancelled more than 30 calendar days before the commencement of the arbitration hearing, the cancellation fee will be $500 plus the hourly rate of the ADRC arbitrator(s) times the number of hours spent by the arbitrator(s) prior to notification to ADR Chambers of the cancellation.

If the arbitration is cancelled or adjourned within thirty calendar days prior to the scheduled commencement of the arbitration hearing, the cancellation fee will be half of the amount of the deposit required to be posted (set out above). If the arbitration is cancelled within two weeks of the scheduled commencement of the arbitration hearing, the cancellation fee will be the full amount of the deposit required to be posted (set out above).

If the arbitrator is able to re-book the time scheduled for the arbitration with other paying work, the cancellation fee will be reduced by the amount received by the arbitrator (for arbitrations cancelled or adjourned within two weeks of the scheduled date) or by half of the amount received by the arbitrator (for arbitrations cancelled or adjourned within 30 days of the scheduled date).

Notification of Cancellations

All cancellation notices to ADR Chambers must be in writing and faxed to ADR Chambers: fax: (416) 362-8825; tel: (416) 362-8555 or 1-800-856-5154; or emailed to adr@adrchambers.com. Emailed cancellation notices are only valid upon ADR Chambers sending the parties a confirmation of receipt of the notice.

Times for Arbitrations

Arbitrations commence at 10:00 a.m., adjourn at 1:00 p.m., resume at 2:00 p.m., and conclude at 5:00 p.m., unless otherwise agreed by the parties and the arbitrators.

Venue for the Arbitration

ADR Chambers offers convenient and high quality arbitration facilities at its downtown Toronto ADR Centre. The fee for the arbitration room is $750 plus taxes per day and $200 plus taxes per day for additional breakout rooms. Coffee, tea, cold drinks and snacks are available throughout the day. Lunch is billed at cost.

Please note: Before an Award is released to the parties, all accounts rendered by ADR Chambers must be paid in full.
