Ivan G. Whitehall, Q.C.

 Ivan G. Whitehall is an arbitrator and mediator with ADR Chambers.

Ivan is a member of the Panel of Arbitrators for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the exclusive Canadian member of the International Chamber of Commerce. He has completed the ADR Institute of Canada’s arbitration course and the Stitt Feld Handy Group ADR and Advanced ADR workshops.

Ivan has extensive experience in dispute resolution. He has appeared as counsel on major national and international dispute resolution cases, both as an agent of the Attorney General of Canada (in a Chapter 11 NAFTA claims, for example) and in private practice. Ivan has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada on behalf of the Canadian Arbitration Congress.

Ivan has considerable experience in all areas of public law including Charter and Aboriginal matters. He is peer-rated as an authority on Aboriginal law (Lexpert), and has been named as one of Canada’s best lawyers in Aboriginal litigation.

Ivan was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1968, the Alberta Bar in 1976 and the Ontario Bar in 1985; he has also been a member of the Yukon and Northwest Territories bars. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1981, and continues as a member of the Ontario Bar and is a retired member of the British Columbia Bar.

Ivan is based in Ottawa and is willing to travel. He is fluent in English and Hungarian.
