E. David D. Tavender, Q.C.
David Tavender is a mediator and arbitrator with ADR Chambers.
David has over 40 years experience in civil commercial litigation and dispute resolution. He has served as a neutral and as counsel on commercial arbitrations and mediations both domestically and internationally. David has mediated and arbitrated multi-million dollar matters in areas including contract breaches, wrongful terminations, construction and franchise rights. He has extensive experience with disputes in the oil, gas and energy industry.
David received training in principled negotiation and mediation from the Harvard Program on Negotiation at the Harvard Law School in 1994. He earned a B.A. (Honours) at the University of Toronto in 1960 and his LL.B. in 1963 at the University of Alberta. David has lectured at the University of Calgary Law School on principled negotiation and is the author of various publications on arbitration, ADR and principled negotiation.
David is a member of the ICC Canadian National Committee’s Roster of Arbitrators, the CPR Institute of Dispute Resolution’s International Panel of Neutrals, the British Columbia International Commercial Arbitration Centre Roster of Neutrals and the NAFTA Advisory Committee On International Private Commercial Disputes.
David has been recognized as a leading lawyer in the field of arbitration by a number of respected organizations including Lexpert and Chambers Global.
David lives in Calgary, Alberta and is counsel to Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP. He is willing to travel.
