He specializes in mediating and arbitrating national and international trade mark and patent disputes, as well as disputes in all other areas of intellectual property. Dan is a member of the INTA Panel of Neutrals, a WIPO Domain Name Panelist, and is the intellectual property judge of The Private Court, a division of ADR Chambers. He is also an Advisor to the American Law Institute on Transnational IP Dispute Jurisdiction, Choice of Law and Judgment issues.

Dan is a founding partner of Bereskin & Parr, a Toronto law firm which exclusively practices in Intellectual Property Law. He has represented clients in cases involving trade marks, domain names, patents, copyrights, and licensing.

Dan has 40 years of experience as a private practitioner in all aspects of IP law. He is a registered trade mark and patent agent in Canada and a registered patent agent in the United States. He is a Foreign Associate Member of the International Trademark Association; a Fellow of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada; a member of the Pharmaceutical Trademark Group and the Association for the Protection of Industrial Property. Dan is also a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario and the Licensing Executives Society.

He is the author or more than 50 papers and articles on various intellectual property law subjects, and is a frequent international speaker at seminars in North America and Europe.
