Benjamin M. Drory

Ben Drory is an investigator, mediator, and arbitrator with ADR Chambers.  As ADR Chambers’ Senior Investigator, Ben investigates workplace, municipal, and banking disputes.  He was formerly a Member of the Condominium Authority Tribunal and Toronto’s Administrative Penalty Tribunal, and from 2012 to 2017 he was a full-time Mediator, Settlement Officer, and Arbitrator for insurance disputes respecting motor vehicle accidents.

Ben has extensive investigative and adjudicative experience municipally.  He was the full-time lead investigator for Toronto’s Office of the Integrity Commissioner from 2017 to 2019, and has investigated Code of Conduct matters for Niagara Falls, Niagara Region, Grimsby, and school boards.  He has also been an appointed by-law Hearing Officer for several municipalities since 2019, conducting formal hearings into by-law violations including parking, tree preservation, property standards, and animal control.

Ben teaches and coaches dispute resolution. He has been a coach for York University’s Certificate in Dispute Resolution since 2015, and formerly taught a course in Insurance Mediation at Humber College.  He is the volunteer Chair of the University of Toronto’s Complaint and Resolution Council for Student Societies, and helps judge university mooting and negotiation competitions, including the Dentons Cup and Canadian National Negotiation Competition.

Ben earned Law and Master’s in Business Administration degrees from the University of Toronto, and is a member of the Ontario Bar.  He is accredited as a Chartered Mediator (C.Med.) and Chartered Arbitrator (C.Arb.) by the ADR Institute of Canada, and is a former Director of the ADR Institute of Ontario.
