Michael is a former Case Management Master of the Superior Court of Justice, an experienced civil and criminal litigator, and a trained mediator and arbitrator. He has extensive litigation experience in personal injury, occupier’s liability, wrongful dismissal, insurance, negligence, and commercial disputes.
As a Case Management Master of the Superior Court of Justice from 2001-2005, Michael adjudicated a wide spectrum of legal issues, both substantive and procedural. He successfully mediated many cases by Settlement Conference.
Prior to his appointment as a Master, he practiced law in Ontario for 35 years. His law practice quickly evolved from a general practice to a specialized civil and criminal litigation practice. He was a member of The Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association. He took a large number of cases to trial verdict and appeared in both the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Michael joined ADR Chambers in 2005, and completed ADR and mediation training with the Stitt Feld Handy Group, a division of ADR Chambers. Michael continues to be a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
In 2007, Michael was a judge at The Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
He is a member of the Advocates’ Society, the Ontario Bar Association (ADR) and the Cottingham Tennis Club.
Michael obtained his B.A. (Honours) and LL.B. from the University of Toronto and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1966. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1978.
Michael operates out of the Toronto office of ADR Chambers.
