James A. Sweetlove

Jim is a mediator with ADR Chambers.  He has mediated two-party and multi-party disputes in all areas of estates and trusts and related matters involving corporate holdings, family succession, real property and family law.

After earning his LL.M. in ADR from Osgoode Hall at York University in 2004, Jim started incorporating ADR into his law practice. He previously received ADR and Advanced ADR training through the Stitt Feld Handy Group and through the Centre for Estate Mediation.  In 2015, Jim retired from the practice of law and is now able to conduct mediations on a full time basis.

Jim earned his LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario and was called to the bar in 1972.  He was former counsel to the law firm of Ross & McBride LLP where he practiced in the areas of estate planning, estate administration and estate litigation.  Jim was a Certified Specialist in Estates and Trusts Law by the LSO and was the chair of the Specialty Committee for Estate and Trust Law of the LSO while in legal practice.  He was an instructor of the Bar Admission Course in Estates with the LSO, a former member of the OBA Estates and Trusts Section, and a former member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.  Jim was selected to The Best Lawyers in Canada for Estates and Trusts each year until retirement.

Jim resides in Burlington, Ontario and is willing to travel.
